Katerynchuk: The presidential bill is not a judicial reform.

24/06/2020 13:16

The presidential bill “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges” and some Laws of Ukraine on the Activities of the Supreme Court and Judicial Governments” (3711) is not a reform of the judiciary. This is an attempt to eliminate the conflicts that arose after the adoption of a number of laws and which contradict the Constitution, in accordance with the decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. Mykola Katerynchuk stated this on the air of “Good morning, country!”.

“If this bill is passed, the judiciary will have a muster – the High Council of Justice. It will be empowered and will decide the fate of the judges, as it will independently form the High Qualifications Commission of Judges and even without the participation of international experts, as promised. As a result, we will see an imitation of work on errors in the work of the judiciary, and judges will receive a whip.

This bill is not a promised reform of the judicial system. This bill has nothing to do with the expectations of ordinary Ukrainians to serve their interests in court and establish justice. The judiciary must stand up for law and justice and be independent of all others. In particular, from the High Council of Justice.

Well, it`s a greeting to a foreign investor – no investment nannies will help protect investments without independent courts. Well, it`s greeting to the IMF, which has made the issue of judicial reform one of the main issues in cooperation with Ukraine”, stressed Mykola Katerynchuk.
