“There are already deadlines for the establishment of territorial election commissions (TEC), political parties already have until August 6 to submit their candidacies for TEC members. And the Electoral Code is still on the website of the Verkhovna Rada in the stage of “changes are being processed.” There has never been such an unprecedentedly low level of preparation for the elections! The Central Election Commission is therefore concerned that it will have to work out all the necessary solutions as a matter of urgency.
In addition, it should be noted that the new Electoral Code provides an unprecedentedly broad powers of the Central Election Commission. Even if we assume that the current CEC consists exclusively of honest and decent people, let us not forget the times when the Central Election Commission was a branch of Poroshenko’s election headquarters, for example. Vovk’s records are evidence of the CEC’s illegal decisions to legalize vote-buying during the last presidential election. Where is the guarantee that in the future the CEC will not use its powers in favor of certain political forces?”, Mykola Katerynchuk emphasized.
