Mykola Katerynchuk: Investigation of the tragedy in Knyazhychi will be buried in the Parliament

“In order to remove any topic from the agenda it is only needed to create a temporary commission in the Parliament, which will quickly bury it. The same is happening with the investigation of the tragedy in Knyazhychi”, – said the leader of the European Party of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk on one of the TV channels today.

“If the commission had actually powers as the Commission of Inquiry, as it is stated in our Constitution, if a special law was adopted, the MPs would have a real opportunity to conduct the investigation with the assistance of the authorized investigators and we would have a positive result. Now these commissions actually do not have any leverage, particularly in government agencies. They can only collect, as a part of parliamentary requests, information, which can be used to make only political conclusions, which are not obligatory”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.

“So Arsen Avakov has to return to Ukraine, to lead the investigation and to tell people what really happened there. But the question is whether it will save him from dismissal. Statements of the President make it clear that such a mechanism is running. And considering the practice of buying People’s Deputies in the Parliament, there will be enough votes for the resignation, if it is necessary for the President”, – he added.
