Mykola Katerynchuk: Responsibility for the delay of a visa-free regime lies on the shoulders of Ukrainian parliamentary parties

“The responsibility for the delay of a visa-free regime for Ukraine once again by the European Parliament, lies on the shoulders of the Ukrainian parliamentary parties. They made no effort to help solving this problem for Ukraine”, – said the leader of the European Party of Ukraine Mykola Katerinchuk, commenting on the delay of a visa-free regime for Ukraine by April next year.

“We, the European Party of Ukraine, are full members of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe – the Party, which is represented in the European Parliament. For a long time the European Party of Ukraine has fought for a visa-free regime for Ukraine together with our European partners. During the 37th ALDE Congress, held on 1-3th December, 2016 in Warsaw, the ALDE President Hans van Baalen said that they would make every effort to help Ukraine to gain a visa-free travel this year. Instead Ukrainian parliamentary parties, including Porosenko`s Solidarity, UDAR and Batkivshchyna, are the members of the largest party of the European Parliament – the European People’s Party. And they did nothing to somehow influence the situation”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.

“Now in Europe Ukraine is not among the most acute issues. All the attention is paid to Brexit, and thus the question of the EU membership of other countries, including Ukraine, receded into the background. This once again confirms that Ukraine should act decisively and aggressively to defend its own interests. And Ukrainian political parties should be at the forefront of this process”, – he added.
