Mykola Katerynchuk: The adoption of a package of bills regarding visa regime does not guarantee its initiation in the nearest future

The leader of the European Party of Ukraine, the Deputy of Parliament of IV-VII convocations, Mykola Katerynchuk believes that even a successful voting for the package of bills for the Action Plan of visa-free regime implementation does not guarantee its realization to Ukraine soon. “I am confident that tomorrow the Parliament will vote for the 9 required bills, on which recently the President of Ukraine made the speech. But I remind you, that the same Ukrainian President has promised the visa-free regime since the 1st of January, 2015. But Ukrainian people still have to stand in line to get the “Schengen” and are subjected to humiliation by submission to embassies incomprehensible inquiries. This means that the only reason why we are still unable to travel around Europe lies in an inability to adopt the necessary laws”, – said the politician.

“In current situation it is extremely important to give Ukrainian citizens the opportunity to visit Europe freely. The government, claims on its European aspirations but precludes people from seeing on their own eyes the benefits of European living standards, which they can implement later in Ukraine. Moreover, on the 22th of May, with Poroshenko presence in Riga Europe paid off the implementation of the visa-free regime by giving our country a so-called financial assistance amounting to 1.8 billion euros. Part of the money, particularly two tranches of 600 million, Ukraine has already received. The money is supposed to be spent on reforms. However, we see no reforms, and no money”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.

“The European Party of Ukraine stood at original sources of visa-free regime implementation with all available methods. Thus in April 2013, our delegation in Strasbourg organized a roundtable with the members of the European Parliament on the issue of the visa-free regime liberalization. We managed to convince the Europeans of the necessity to step progressively and decisively toward this direction. But the autumn summit in Vilnius dramatically changed the course of history.

It is frustrating that after receiving the power at the cost of human lives, the talks of so-called leader of the Revolution of Dignity about the benefits of visa-free travel remain empty chatters for the public. The loans on the have significantly more weight than visa-free regime for power”, – says the leader of the European Party of Ukraine.

Mykola Katerynchuk believes that the current government is not interested in the implementation of the visa-free regime quickly. “If the government was intended primarily to satisfy citizen’s interests, rather than getting a multibillion-euro loans, the visa-free regime would have been a reality”, – he added.
