Mykola Katerynchuk: the law on the land market will be overturned by a decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine

The issue of land is one of the most important, which has caused the heated debates from the beginning and definitely needed consultations with the people. But the nightly vote in violation of the regulations, the Constitution, and the adoption of such an important issue for Ukraine without a referendum started a new stage in the development of Ukrainian society in the sense of “Why do we need a state?”.

The European Party of Ukraine has always advocated a civilized land market. First, the land market should be based on small and family farms, not large landowners and agricultural holdings. And secondly, the land must ensure the country’s food security.
But agricultural holdings and their lobbyists did not think about creating additional jobs in the countryside and guaranteeing the country’s food security. They lobbied for 200,000 hectares in one hand, the Latin American model of land sales, which should lead to the destruction of the agricultural market.
It seems that at this point they have not achieved their result. But I have the impression that all the delays and restrictions laid down in the law have only one purpose – on the one hand, to deceive the IMF and get a loan, and on the other – to deceive the people of Ukraine. My forecast is that this law will not withstand the constitutional investigation on its adoption and will be overturned by a decision of the CCU.
And another point that struck – the moral unscrupulousness of the Party «Servant of the people». The votes of Vakarchuk’s faction are clear, but the joint coalition of “servants” with Poroshenko raises questions. It was possible to do without the votes of Poroshenko’s faction, because the amendments made it possible to attract the maximum number of votes of the presidential faction. They simply did not work with “servants”. They were in a hurry. That is why Poroshenko’s votes were not neglected.
Of course, there can be no protests now. People are busy with only one thing – quarantine, survival during a pandemic. But it was definitely a good lesson for every voter in our country and everyone should draw conclusions.
