Mykola Katerynchuk: Ukrainians should be given the right to have firearms at home for self-defense

“Ukrainians should be given the right to have firearms at home for self-defense. Free gun ownership does not exist anywhere in the world, everywhere there are certain limitations. Even in the US, where attitudes to weapons are loyal, only one state authorized free carrying of weapons, others only allowed to use weapons at home for self-defense”, – said the leader of the European Party of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk on one of the TV channels today.

“Now people own nearly 9 million weapons, anyone can buy any kind of non-automatic weapons. This suggests that people do not believe that the state can protect them. And in terms of an increase in crime, when the state can not cope with the task, the responsibility to protect themselves and their family relies on citizens”, – he said.

“The experience of other countries shows that the right to free use of weapons for self-defense helps to prevent crimes and leads to a reduction in crime rate. Therefore, the ability of citizens to use guns at home for self-defense must be fixed at the legislative level in the nearest future”, – he added.
