“In my speeches and statements, I have repeatedly stressed on the urgency and the importance of visa-free regime for Ukraine, as a first step of becoming a European state. Frankly speaking, it is no merit of the current government to make the question budged. But even this year we can receive such status. Technical adoption of relevant bills which is a prerequisite for granting a visa-free regime is its usual routine work because the vector of development was elected by people. But European politics does not change a longterm tradition and adopt appropriate decisions in time”, – commented on today’s decision of the European Parliament to support the European Commission’s report on the implementation of the action plan on visa liberalization by Georgia and Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk , the leader of the European Party of Ukraine.
“MEPs gave a clear signal to the EU Member States about the need to adopt positive decisions regarding Ukraine and Georgia. I am convinced that from this point, we can be more confident about the results of the referendum in the Netherlands, that will be held on the 6th of April and on which citizens of the country will decide whether to ratify the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine or not”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.
“In general, a visa-free regime for Ukraine is a matter of time. We are inevitably moving towards that. And this is a recognition of our country in the eyes of the whole European community. But in any case it is desirable to obtain such status within this year”, – emphasized the leader of the European party.
Mykola Katerynchuk expressed his gratitude to his European colleagues from the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe who are the members of the European Parliament and supported the resolution. “As a full member of ALDE, the European Party of Ukraine systematically conducts explanatory work with its colleagues about the need to support Ukraine on its way to the EU membership. So I want to express the words of personal appreciation for voting in support of the resolution to the ALDE MEPs Petras Auštrevičius, Javier Nart, Johannes Cornelis van Baalen, Beatriz Becerra and to all others”, – said the politician.
