The twentieth century has left us a legacy of past events, that do not lose their importance and relevance today. And the 22nd of January, 1919, belongs to such kind of events, the day when the Unification Act between the Ukrainian National Republic and the West Ukrainian National Republic was declared. This date is destined to remain forever in Ukrainian history as the majestic national holiday – the Day of Reunion.
On the 22nd of January, (in recent years – it is a tradition), Novomyrhorod gathered near the monument to Taras Shevchenko. Representatives of the executive and local authorities made patriotic speeches near the Great Kobzar, the band “Gulyaypole” performed their songs, the members of the local literary association read their poems and a wreath laying ceremony was held.
The event was also attended by Novomyrhorod City Council Deputies, the members of the European Party of Ukraine.
Youth of Novomyrhorod that outnumbered all the other members, made its creative contribution in the event. They organized the flashmob, called “Ukraine is the united country” with the participation of students from Novomyrhorod schools, the Mayor, and the member of the European Party of Ukraine Ihor Zabazhan.
