The European Party of Ukraine is preparing for the election campaign that will be held this year on the 25th of October. The leader of the political force Mykola Katerynchuk considers that the election of local governance representatives is going to be an extremely significant event for the further scenario of the State.

On the 2nd of September Mykola Katerynchuk even came to Vinnytsia in order to discuss with the party members of the Podolski region the current political and economic situation, which is threatful for Ukraine.Tragic events near the Verkhovna Rada urged the politician to take decisive actions. Amendments to the Constitution that are conducted by using such methods in future may lead to unpredictable consequences. Previously, the European Party of Ukraine held a stable neutral political position and was cautious with criticizing authorities, but considering the war and crisis, now we do not reject the possibility of entering the non-parliamentary opposition.

“The concept, when the power is exercised by people, has been neglected, – said Mykola Katerynchuk. – Promised reforms are turned into a trivial attempt to save money. Taken as a basis the “Polish model” of community associations was distorted, because in most cases there is no element of voluntariness. The community is those people who live in your neighborhood and whom you know well! And when force is applied in order to unite several settlements, there is no reason of their existence”.

In October during the elections the members of the European party of Ukraine are planning to give voters an alternative choice, different from populism and political radicalism. In the party ranks we have both highly experienced and new people who will go to the polls: the ATO members, students, active citizens. The party members consider moderation and willingness to dialogue their strong side.

“We are not going to have large billboards and tons of advertisment. Pre-election campaign will be a modest one and will be built on a dialogue with people”, – says Mykola Katerynchuk. – We are going to explain the difference between decentralization and centralization. As these amendments to the Constitution has nothing in common with decentralization, except the name. We think that the main principle of the Magdeburg Law, which the entire European model is built on, is violated. And because of this, communities will not have a chance to develop. That is what we will try to put across to our voters.”

Alexander Pavlechenko, who lives in Khmilnyk, stands in the ranks of the European Party since its founding. He explains his constant sympathy as a reasonable and stable position of the leadership of the party, and the proximity of views on the future of Ukraine. Now he plans to run for a member of the Khmilnyk City Council. He explains his desire very simply: “People have to feel heard when addressing to deputies of the local councils; that issues and problems can be solved locally”.

“The European values mean that every person is a priority for the government”, – explains his political choice Igor Kulik. – Freedom of speech, rule of law, the right for everyone to education, work and accommodation. During the Revolution of Dignity Ukrainians have shown that they want to live in that way. It is important not to waste time”.

The members of the European Party of Ukraine realize that the election race will be difficult, but they are ready to act resolutely.
