Valeriy Klochok: The authorities failed both external and internal policies in 2016

“The government failed both external and internal policies in 2016. And the fault for this must lie on the shoulders of the President and the government”, – said the head of the Central Executive Committee of the European Party of Ukraine Valeriy Klochok, commenting on the results of the national poll of the Fund “Democratic initiatives” of Ilko Kucheriv on the results of 2016, on one of the TV channels today.

“It is natural that Ukrainian biggest problem is the war in the East. We have no understanding how to resolve this conflict and in what form. Minsk format has given no results, as well as Normandy format, so we need to look for a new mechanism, which could be the Budapest format. But, unfortunately, the Ukrainian officials do not even raise this issue. Neither the President, nor the Ministry of Foreign Affairs do nothing to end the war in the East”, – he said.

“Another failure in foreign policy is a visa-free regime for Ukraine that has repeatedly been promised to us this year by the President. The same situation is with the Association Agreement with the EU. After a controversial referendum in the Netherlands there was excluded a key point – the possibility of EU membership for Ukraine. All that we fought for during the Revolution of Dignity was ruined by the authorities because of their inaction in the international arena”, – said Valeriy Klochok.

“In many ways, a scornful attitude of the EU to Ukraine was influenced by the internal policy. The survey showed that Ukrainians are concerned about prices and tariffs, which constantly grows, and people in turn becomes poorer every year. Another problem is e-declaration. A million assets of our officals became an indicator of corruption in the government, not only for every Ukrainian, but also for our European partners. As a result, Ukrainian authorities lost trust. Ukrainian people no longer trust the President, nor the state apparatus, nor the courts, nor the police”, – he stressed.

“We talk about economic growth and reforms, while this poll shows the real situation in the country. This is a result of the activity of this power, and Ukrainiany rated it as unsatisfactory on all counts”, – added Valeriy Klochok.
