“Refusal of the European integration will make Ukraine vulnerable for external pressure, Ukrainians will for ever lose possibility to get the worthy wages and pensions and they will stay poor”, – such statement has been expressed today during the press conference in Zaporizhzhya by the leader of the European Party of Ukraine, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk.

As an example Mykola Katerynchuk demonstrated comparisons of the level of average wages in Ukraine which hardly exceed today 200 Euros, and in Europe they reach up to 4 500 Euros; the level of average pension in Ukraine is 200 Euros, and in Europe it is over 2 000 Euros. Due to the Deputy’s words “only this argument for me personally is sufficient enough to confirm expediency of accurate definition of the European integration course of the country”.

“In the Resolution of the European Parliament of the end of February it is told that according to the contract between the EU and Ukraine the last can submit the Application for Membership in the European Union. The European Party of Ukraine is convinced that such unprecedented decision Ukraine has no right not to take advantage. We will regard refusal of such chance as a crime against Ukraine”, – he stressed.

“As I had informed earlier, on March, 31st the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the European integration unanimously recommended to the Parliament to assume as a basis the Application for Membership in the European Union. And already on April, 2nd, 2010 the Speaker of the Parliament consciously ruined this issue’s consideration”- the People’s Deputy noted. – “However we will not stop and will follow up our demand of the Application’s for Membership in the European Union consideration via local governments”.
“Due to the Constitution of Ukraine the people are the main carrier of the sovereignty and a uniform source of the power in Ukraine. The people carry out the power directly and through public authorities and local governments. For this reason we consider that local communities have the right to demand from local governments to prepare the Reference to the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with the demand of urgent consideration of the decision mentioned above: submission of the Application for Membership in the European Union.
