On April 10, 2012 a round table of representatives of Ukrainian Chernobyl organizations was held under the support of the European Party of Ukraine and the initiative of Borys Brodovskyi, archpriest of Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

The event was attended by about 270 Chornobyl victims from all over Ukraine and representatives of 68 NGOs.

“You should put forward political demands along with the social ones” – said the leader of the European Party of Ukraine, People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Mykola Katerynchuk, to the participants of the all-Ukrainian roundtable. – “You should demand the resignation of the current Cabinet, because it adopted that notorious resolution, which limits social benefits not only for Chornobyl victims, but also for other categories of people”.

Katerynchuk also urged the participants of the roundtable to initiate amendments to the legislation, to give voters the opportunity to withdraw the people’s deputies. “This norm should be adopted by the parliament before this year’s parliamentary elections. Otherwise, there will be enough people in the new parliament, who will form a majority with the Party of Regions again and no one will talk about any benefits at all”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.

He also suggested the participants to create a social organization which would “really defend the rights of Chornobyl victims and would not be involved in the questionable memoranda of the current government”.

Mykola Katerynchuk urged the audience to come to the rally at the Parliament on the occasion of the anniversary of the Chornobyl tragedy. “On April 26, come to the Parliament yourselves and bring 100 people with you for the resistance to the existing regime, which conducts anti-social policy”.
