The Party of Mykola Katerynchuk will invite international auditors to solve the problem of Podil Bridge

The European Party of Ukraine intends to initiate in the Kyiv City Council an independent audit on the construction of Podil Bridge.

This was stated by the head of the Kyiv City Office of the EPU Serhiy Grachov.
“All you know about Kyiv Podil Bridge across the Dnipro River is the fact that its construction was stopped, then restored and then frozen again. And this process has been continued for almost 11 years. Podil Bridge is the largest infrastructure project in Kyiv during the last decade, which also became the biggest disaster. And Kyiv citizens want to know why it has happened”.

“Now, for some reason he has dropped from the agenda of the city. Someone really does not want to answer the awkward questions, -believes Serhiy Grachov. – And the general contractor and the Kyiv authorities refer to various causes of the construction delays. It is necessary to find out what is really going on with the project, and how to manage its construction to put the bridge into operation as soon as possible.
“The standard international practice in such cases recommends inviting the independent auditors and consultants. According to Serhiy Grachov, it can be a large international company with experience in support of large infrastructure projects. He believes that the economic impact for the city on the successful completion of the project will be much higher than the costs for audit. Indeed, due to the inefficient management of the project the city has already lost a lot of money and will still lose it.
The construction of Podil Bridge across the Dnipro River began in 2003. The bridge is the cornerstone in future development of the transport infrastructure of Kyiv. The initial term of completing the project was 2008, then 2013. After the crash of the floating crane “Zachariah” in 2010, the building was again stopped and resumed only in March 2014 with the indefinite term of completion. The general contractor of the project is “Mostobud”.
