Dear, Ukrainian! I sincerely congratulate all of us on the Ukraine`s Constitution Day!
On June 28, 1996, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a new Constitution of Ukraine – the first Constitution of the independent Ukraine.
The deputies worked on the project in the Parliament overnight. Through consensus they reached an agreement on the controversial issues: the state symbols of Ukraine, the Ukrainian state language, the right to private property in Ukraine.
Of course the Constitution was an important step in ensuring human and civil rights and helped to improve the international image of Ukraine in the world.
Adoption of the Constitution proclaimed the legal foundations of the independent Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Today, these principles are questioned through the military conflict in the Donbas region.
I wish all of us to keep this holiday for many years, in order to make Ukraine a powerful and prosperous country. We become only stronger in revolutions and wars but we also lose our best sons.
So let the high price, which we pay, will be worth a happy future for our next generations.
Glory to Ukraine!
Mykola Katerynchuk,
People`s Deputy of Ukraine, the leader of the European Party of Ukraine
