On the night of April 25 separatists kidnapped the son of the head of the Donetsk regional organization of the European Party of Ukraine Petro Antipas – Horlivka activist and fighter for sovereign Ukraine. As we were informed, the unknown, using threats, pushed the young man into the car and drove away. After several hours of beatings and intimidation, he managed to escape. With numerous injuries, he was taken to the hospital.
According to Petro Antipas, there are serious risks for people with pro-Ukrainian position in Horlivka. Many people have escaped with their families, but they want to return and continue their work. “Now a lot depends on Kyiv. We have warned the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Serhiy Taruta and Kyiv politicians about the possible consequences, but they continue to make the same mistakes. Taruta, at first, reacted very frivolously to the situation. I hope that now he has changed his position and the situation will be taken under control. We are totally losing the information war. Today, however, it is still possible to reverse the situation in Donetsk region. The government must show its strength, do not flirt but act. It is necessary to clearly explain people, what was the aim of Maydan and make people in Donetsk region understand that we are not some kind of fascists”.
“Talking about moods in Horlivka and generally in the district, it is clear that more people are beginning to understand what is really going on. Everything is different now. More people come to the meetings for Ukraine’s unity, but they need stronger support from Kyiv. It is a war. There is nothing to add”, – summed up the politician.
