“The European Party of Ukraine, headed by me, declared Ukraine’s accession to the European Union as its main goal from every beginning and it will use all available opportunities to achieve this goal. To my mind, conversations with the MEPs and positioning Ukraine as a country which step -by-step builds democracy of the European standards and as a member worth joining the EU are the basic remedies” – said the leader of the European Party of Ukraine, People’s Deputy of Ukraine, the member of the parliamentary faction “Batkivshchina” Mykola Katerynchuk at the 7th Congress of the Liberal party of Lithuania, which took place last Saturday.

“At the end of November in Vilnius, a capital of Lithuania, the summit of “Eastern Partnership” will be conducted, where the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union is planned to be signed. Lithuania presides in the EU by the end of this year. That is why our presence in this country right now is crucial. We need to convey everyone that it is necessary for Ukraine to be a full member of the European community”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.

“The Liberal Party of Lithuania, as well as the European Party of Ukraine, is a member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, which has a significant impact on decision-making in the European Parliament. We hold similar meetings with different parties partners for every occasion to reiterate to our colleagues the importance of signing the Association Agreement”, – said the leader of the European Party of Ukraine.

Note: For January 2013 – 20 parties of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe participates in the 16 governments across Europe (including 11 EU Member States). Today, 85 members of the parliament belong to the ALDE group in the European Parliament from 21 EU countries.
At the national level ALDE party members participate in the governments of 12 of the 27 EU countries, including the vice – chancellor of Germany (Philipp Rösler, Free Democratic Party ) and the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (Nick Clegg, the Liberal Democrats). Also, ALDE party members are in the governments of Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Sweden together with other parties from different European countries.
