Candidate for People’s Deputy of Ukraine from Kalynivka, Kozyatyn and Khmelnitskyi districts (constituency no.13), Mykola Katerynchuk, said about the need of reducing prices for medicines in rural areas at the meeting with voters. “I think the adoption of the draft law (no. 10225 of March 16, 2012), which has already been registered in the parliament, is top priority for me”, – he stressed. – “Unfortunately this initiative is hindered by the government majority and the relevant law is not being considered. Instead, Azarov is implementing frankly terrible health reform in Vinnytsia region, supported by the Communists, when an ordinary citizen with an acute appendicitis does not even have time to be delivered to the hospital because the nearest one is at least 40 km away. Due to the lack of funding of the rural health care posts (HCP), instead of the medical care the doctors are only capable to state the death of a human”- said Mykola Katerynchuk.
The draft law proposes to abolish the fee for conducting commercial activities and activities on providing paid services by pharmacies of the state and municipal property, medical and health care posts, rural district hospitals, clinics, outpatient clinics in general practice – family medicine, located in rural areas where pharmacies are absent.
“This is an important document that should be adopted immediately. It will enable the rural residents to buy medicines much cheaper, and rural hospitals and HCPs will be able to provide affordable medical services to residents of the remote districts”- added Mykola Katerynchuk.
