Mykola Katerynchuk appealed to Kyiv District Administrative Court with a claim to acknowledge as illegal the orders of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, concerning the rejection of European integration

Today, on November 22, the European Party of Ukraine , headed by People`s Deputy of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk , appealed to Kyiv District Administrative Court with a claim to acknowledge as illegal and void the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (no. 905- p of  November 21, 2013) “On Association Agreement between Ukraine, on the one part, and the European Union , the European Atomic Energy Community and their Member States, on the other part”, which among other things provides “suspension of the preparation for signing the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union”.

“The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, within its powers, defined by the Constitution of Ukraine, acknowledged the European integration of Ukraine and further signing of the Association Agreement with the EU and membership in the EU as a priority direction of the foreign policy of Ukraine. Instead, yesterday the government approved Azarov`s orders that are contrary to these standards”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk, commenting on the claim.

“Besides, this order is not only contrary to the Law of Ukraine “On the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine”, but also violates the right of Ukrainians for European choice, which is supported by the overwhelming majority of Ukrainian society. In particular, this is evidenced by the last regular elections of People`s Deputies of Ukraine, which took place on October 28, 2012. Thus, according to the information, available on the official website of the Central Election Commission, more than a half of the voters, who participated in the elections, supported political parties, which programs clearly define the European integration course of Ukraine. Among them, there are both the opposition and the ruling political parties”, – said People`s Deputy.

The European Party of Ukraine believes that the court has all legal grounds to immediately suspend the orders of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and, thus, to ensure the realization of the aspirations of the most Ukrainians for integration into the European Union.
