People’s Deputy of Ukraine, the leader of the European Party of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk sent an appeal to the Prosecutor General`s Office of Ukraine, in which he asks to find responsible for obstructing the journalists of the “Nadzvychayni Novyny” program during the funeral of the representative of the Security Service of Ukraine deceased in the resonant accident.
“On June 25, 2013 at Berkovetskiy Cemetery in Kyiv during the funeral procession of one of the participants of the accident that occurred on June 22 2013 at 06:45 at International square in Kyiv, Sergiy Matkovskiy the attack on TV journalists («ICTV») was occurred by Security Service of Ukraine, – is said in a statement. – “During this attack journalists were forced to delete captured video, and some members of Security Service, acting contrary to the law, demanded to check phones of the reporters looking for recorded videos.
“According to the People`s Deputy, such behavior of the Security forces is a criminal offense and in accordance to Part 1 of Article 171 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regards as an obstruction of journalistic activities, and is punishable by a fine up to fifty tax-free minimum incomes, or arrest for a term up to six months or imprisonment for up to three years.
