The candidate for mayor of Kyiv from the European Party of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk strongly condemned the decision of the Election Commission of Kyiv to withdraw Lesya Orobets from the mayoral elections and the elections for Kyiv City Council Deputies. He said that after the meeting of the commission, which occurred late on May 13. During the meeting it was decided to withdraw Lesya Orobets from the race.
“A few days ago the team of the European Party of Ukraine filed a claim on inaction of the Kyiv City Election Commission and soon, on May 10, the District Administrative Court of Kyiv issued a decision that upheld the vast majority of our applications. According to that, the Central Election Commission has changed the DEC head”, – reminded Mykola Katerynchuk.
“But in general, work of the entire Election Commission indicates its irresponsibility: decisions are being delayed, the committee does not conduct meetings in the manner, prescribed by law, and even unreasonably remove candidates from the elections”, – said the leader of the European Party of Ukraine.
“I believe that the Commission is unable to provide the democratic elections in the capital and I will strive for a complete change of its structure and making lawful decisions”, – he added.
“I am sure that Lesya Orobets must be restored as a candidate for mayor. We are ready to provide legal assistance for her support in challenging the decision of the DEC. I think the candidates must compete in ideas and political positions. Those, who wants to eliminate their opponents by using opaque methods, should be exposed and removed from politics”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.
