The candidate for Kyiv Mayor, People`s Deputy of Ukraine, the leader of the European Party of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk applied to the leader of the Kyiv City State Administration Volodymyr Bondarenko with the parliamentary inquiry of the proposal to strengthen the protection of Kyiv City Underground during May holidays because of the threat of terrorist attacks.
“Recently the media has disseminated materials concerning possible terrorist attacks during the May holidays. Moreover, according to some reports that came to me personally, anti-Ukrainian forces will change the tactics of their actions and will soon conduct new provocative actions. Particularly, activists of extremist groups consider extension of their activities in the capital of Ukraine – Kyiv”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk in his inquiry.
“There is a high possibility of committing in Kyiv various provocations, skirmishes, and even large-scale terrorist attacks. The most alarming reports on this matter relate to the period of May holidays – International Workers` Day and Victory Day”, – is said in the inquiry. – “In this respect, an important issue is security, public order and the smooth operation of the strategic infrastructure of the city during May holidays, namely in Kyiv City Underground, which could be potentially used by extremists to commit terrorist acts or acts of provocation to destabilize the situation in capital”.
That is why Mykola Katerynchuk asks to strengthen the protection of Kyiv City Underground as one of the most important strategic assets in the city and to take the best possible measures to ensure the safety of its passengers and employees.
