In the case of non-participation of Vitali Klitschko in the Kyiv mayor elections and no coherent opposition candidate for mayor, three candidates have similar chances to win. There are Oleksander Popov, who scores 18.7%, Petro Poroshenko – about 17% and Mykola Katerynchuk of almost 16%. Such results of the research, conducted by the international company GfK Ukraine and commissioned by Ukrainian business magazine “Expert”, were announced today at the press conference in UNIAN.
Representatives of GfK Ukraine said that if Mykola Katerynchuk was an only candidate for the head of the capital from the United Opposition, he would confidently win with a score of 23%. In the case of the nomination of any other candidate who represents the opposition camp the government representative wins. “Mykola Katerynchuk is the only effective opposition candidate, whose victory over Oleksander Popov in the battle for mayor of Kyiv is guaranteed” – was said at the press conference. – “The key to guaranteed victory over the government representative is still a status of the only opposition candidate.”If the mayor elections were held in Kyiv next Sunday, 79% of Kyiv residents over the age of 18 years would attend them: 59% precision and 20% – probably yes. At the same time 16% of respondents would not vote. Almost 5% could not decide whether to participate in the elections of Kyiv mayor or not.
The study was conducted by GfK Ukraine during June 11 – July 1, 2013. The customer of the research is Ukrainian business magazine “Expert”. Total sample is 2100 of Kyiv residents over the age of 18 years. The survey was conducted by personal interviews in the respondents` homes in all areas of Kyiv. The maximum error is 2.1%.
