Mykola Katerynchuk presented Bibles for children to orphanages in Kyiv

Today the action of the European Party of Ukraine “Bibles for children to Kyiv orphanages” has started. The initiator of the action – the leader of the European Party of Ukraine, People`s Deputy of Ukraine, the member of the faction “Batkivshchina” Mykola Katerynchuk. During the week, members of the party will be delivering books to all orphanages and boarding schools of the capital. The action is dedicated to the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Ukraine-Rus.

In general, the list consists of more than two dozen schools, so party members organized several groups to visit every school in 2-3 days. One group was led by Mykola Katerynchuk.

The idea to give children beautifully illustrated Bibles was born as a response to the dominance of officialdom in the celebration of the anniversary of Baptism. Indeed, on Saturday, July 27, we became spectators of the officials` “corporate celebration”, organized by spending budget money, which was closed for ordinary citizens. It is clear that this bureaucratic festival had nothing to do with children.

Mykola Katerynchuk: “We have seen the grandeur of this celebration. Although the money that was allocated for the Feast (30 million USD from the KCSA) could be spent for really Christian affairs – to equip hospitals, schools, kindergartens, libraries … I think that if Christ was at St. Vladimir’s Hill on Saturday , He would be very surprised by what was going on there under his name.”

According to the People`s Deputy, the Bible offers people the moral values tested by time. Therefore, it is important to introduce these values to children, especially when our government has left education of future generations to fate.

Today Mykola Katerynchuk attended the boarding school number 2 and the family-type orphanage of Sergey and Natalia Gedz. At the family home the meeting was especially warm – guests were invited for tea and homemade pancakes.

It is clear that these institutions today are faced with considerable challenges, such as indifference of officials and the state in whole to the problems of children deprived of parental care.

“Orphanages, especially family-type homes, must be maintained at the municipal and state levels. Parents do not have to apply to officials and beg for aid, but officials must come to them with their proposals. Because, thanks to the people who organize these family-type homes and do it with the call of heart, orphans and children with special needs grow up in love, without a feeling of their “separateness” – said Mykola Katerynchuk.

Each institution will receive between 10 and 40 illustrated Bibles in its library – depending on the number of children who are brought up there.
