On the radio station “Golos Stolytsy” the member of the parliamentary faction “Batkivshchina”, the leader of the European Party of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk told how the future Kyiv mayor elections will be conducted.
The election campaign for local elections begins 50 days before the elections. So the start will be given in a few days. But, as the Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine Andriy Magera announced, first of all, it is necessary to adopt a law on local elections.
This law will clarify some points. For example, the voter must be allowed to be a member of the election commission, which organizes the presidential elections and the local. Another open issue concerns two rounds in Kyiv mayor elections.
These issues were covered in the interview of the member of the parliamentary faction “Batkivshchina”, the leader of the European Party of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk on the radio station “Golos Stolytsy”.
“I think that the elected mayor must receive all the powers and responsibilities that concern Kyiv. He will be elected by Kyiv citizens, not by an official, who appoints another official, concerned only with the boss, who appointed him”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.
He also believes that the capital will get the European standard of living with all consequences, and politicians will choose for themselves and will follow the appropriate European values.
Studying the experience of the City Halls of Vilnius, Tallinn, Riga, Sofia, Budapest – the capitals of post-Soviet countries, we also pay attention on how City Halls work in London, New York, Berlin, Paris … I want to tell you that they have a completely different system of governance, but the cornerstone of any system of governance is still a person with the determined rights and responsibilities. That is a responsible citizen who wants to live better and understands, what he pays for and how he spends his money. Therefore, there is simply no alternative to the European system of governance”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.
