“Approving the law on languages, the government committed a crime in the literal sense of the word and must be held accountable under the law. It will be for sure, and it is only a matter of time”- said the leader of the European Party of Ukraine, People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Mykola Katerynchuk commenting on the Draft Law “On the Principles of Language Policy” (no. 9073), which was approved in the parliament yesterday.
“Grossly violating the law and regulation rules of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, presidium of the parliament ignored the right of people’s deputies to the legislative initiative and voted for the draft law on the quiet. It is hard to find another word for such a voting. No amendment was considered”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.
“We appeal to the President of Ukraine to veto the “language” draft law. If it is signed by the head of the state, we will appeal to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine so that the law is declared unconstitutional. The truth is on our side and we will prove it”- added the MP.
