Mykola Katerynchuk: The main disadvantage of the Association Agreement is the impossibility of further Ukraine’s membership in the EU

“The final ratification of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement will allow European values to be launched in Ukraine. However, the worst thing is that this Agreement does not foresee the possibility of further membership of Ukraine in the EU”, – said the leader of the European Party of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk on the radio “Era”.

“It means that a number of European countries have already made the condition that under this agreement Ukraine will never become a member of the EU. Everyone is trying keep it in silence. Then they will say that the text will be reviewed later, but the EU member states have already determined and approved the Agreement in their parliaments”, – he said.

“I would like to emphasize that the very implementation of the Agreement can last for decades. After all, the current government is not able to work effectively, which is proved by the extension of the issue of a visa-free regime for several years. And even now, when the Association Agreement is ratified, the authorities continue their own pension and medical reforms, which have nothing to do with the commitments that Ukraine has signed”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.

“For us, this means only one thing – Ukraine will not receive such assistance and financial support that were given to other countries upon joining the EU. For example, about 100 billion euros were allocated to infrastructure and reforms in Poland. Therefore, if we want to achieve a European standard of living, we have to build Europe in Ukraine on our own” – he added.
