“The main task of the new parliament should be the acceleration of signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, which includes an agreement on free trade area (FTA) between Ukraine and the EU, and its urgent ratification” – said People’s Deputy of Ukraine, the leader of the European Party of Ukraine, Mykola Katerynchuk.
“Previously, Ukraine put forward some basic requirements, the implementation of which is actually a prerequisite for early signing of the Association Agreement. It includes the elimination of selective justice (the problem concerns the sentences for a number of influential political leaders in the past) and the broader judicial reform, free and fair elections and accelerating of the reforms implementation. All these points still remain in limbo. So the new parliament must rectify the situation and it has all necessary potential for this. The first plenary day of the seventh convocation is a vivid proof of that” – considers Mykola Katerynchuk. – “The opposition has shown the ability to influence the decisions and it will continue to do this”.
“The Association Agreement will be completely ratified if it is signed in Ukraine’s Parliament, in the European Parliament and the parliaments of 27 countries-members of the EU (unless Croatia becomes 28th member of the EU by that time). “Among my main tasks in the new Parliament I see the work in this direction”, – said the MP.
NB: On March 30, heads of delegations of Ukraine and the European Union initialed the Association Agreement, which includes a deep and comprehensive free trade area.
O July 19 this year, representatives of Ukraine and the European Commission initialed the text of the agreement on free trade area (FTA) between Ukraine and the EU, which is an integral part of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
