“This Resolution confirmed concern and active attitude of the Deputies of the European Parliament in their support for Ukrainian people. Based on the extensive analysis of the situation in Ukraine and its relations with the Russian Federation and the European Union, the resolution covers all political arguments used to support Ukraine in the current political crisis. The European Parliament`s Resolution of 22 items includes almost all of the key problems in the current situation in Ukraine and its relations with the European Union”, – said the People`s Deputy of Ukraine, the leader of the European Party of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk from the scene at EuroMaydan.

“After long debates and consideration of seven draft resolutions, one of which was submitted by the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, led by Guy Verhofstadt, the final resolution was approved, providing the sanctions against Ukraine. Although, all draft resolutions significantly differ from each other in a degree of rigidity in the estimates of the current government of Ukraine and the European Union’s response to the situation in Ukraine. This proves that the EU displays concern for the future of our country and is ready to help us in upholding democratic values in Ukraine”, – said the People`s Deputy of Ukraine.
“Firstly, the European Parliament criticized the actions of the President and the Government of Ukraine on protesters, especially with regard to the use of violence and persecution. The European Parliament urges the President of Ukraine to stop the use of internal security units, including the “Berkut” and points out that the situation with the leader of AutoMaydan Dmitro Bulatov violates the international obligations, accepted by Ukraine. All EU Member States have urged for the use of personal sanctions against those, who were involved in the use of violence against protesters. The EU warns that the imposition of a state of emergency in Ukraine can be considered as a criminal offense with the significant international implications. All those, who are responsible for the use of violence against peaceful protesters should be punished”, – said the politician in his speech.
“Secondly, the Resolution of the European Parliament reaffirmed support for Ukrainian protesters in their pursuit of a free and democratic Ukraine. The current political crisis should be resolved politically with all possible peaceful means, and the use of violence on both sides must be stopped.
Moreover, the European Parliament confirms its readiness to sign the Association Agreement as soon as the political crisis in Ukraine is ended and urges the international financial institutions to develop specific ways of financial support for Ukraine. They should continue to include Ukraine into the EU energy market, and the cost of visas for Ukrainians should be reduced, especially for young people”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.
“Separately, the resolution emphasizes the role of the Russian Federation in the political conflict in Ukraine. Russia must respect the right of their neighbors to choose partners for international cooperation and must stop economic and political pressure on Ukraine. To speed up solving the conflict, the European Parliament recommends Ukrainian authorities to release the imprisoned protesters without any additional conditions and return to a parliamentary-presidential republic under the Constitution of 2004. For its part, the European Parliament proposes to organize a permanent establishment in Ukraine of the European Parliament and a separate independent committee under the auspices of a respected international organization such as the Council of Europe, which will investigate all violations of human rights in Ukraine”, – said the People`s Deputy of Ukraine in his speech.
“We will defend our democracy. We will have a country, where people control and direct power. Thank all of you and thank Ukraine”, – said in conclusion the leader of the European Party of Ukraine.
