Mykola Katerynchuk urges to stop military confrontation and to start negotiations, involving international mediators

“Over the past day civilians, who came to express their dissatisfaction with the policy of the current government, were killed in clashes with the so-called law enforcement officers. The constitutional right to peaceful protest turned into the deaths. And the government will bear responsibility for that. It’s only a matter of time”, – commented the leader of the European Party of Ukraine, People`s Deputy of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk on the events of last night. – “There is no excuse for those who shoot at their own people”.

“However, I again emphasize on the immediate cessation of military confrontation and the bloodshed, which has spread across the country. Any war ends with the negotiations. The only question is the number of victims. And our task is to prevent further deaths”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.
“So I again urge the authorities and the opposition leaders to start the negotiations immediately. However, the effectiveness of negotiations is possible only with the participation of international mediators. The government must listen to the international community and the opposition leaders should accept the offer to head the government – it is the only way. I repeat – political death is nothing compared to the death of civilians”, – said the People`s Deputy. – “If the Administration of the President and the President choose to save the country, they must tomorrow change the composition of the Cabinet of Ministers – Prime Minister and Minister of Defense must be from the opposition”.
Mykola Katerynchuk also supported the introduction of personal sanctions against the responsible, about what the U.S. and the EU have already stated. “Ukraine needs foreign interference in the political crisis through the introduction of targeted sanctions. It must be done immediately. Delays in the implementation of sanctions will lead to further escalation of the conflict and numerous victims”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.
