“The attempts of the current government to cancel Serhiy Vlasenko’s immunity have nothing to do with a law or the applicable provisions of the legislation on the combination of the parliamentary activities with his practice as a lawyer. Motives stated by the Regulations Committee of Parliament, are nothing more than a pretext for his removal from the political arena, as a well-known opposition politician and effective and a professional lawyer of Yulia Tymoshenko”, – reported People’s Deputy of Ukraine, the leader of the European Party of Ukraine, Mykola Katerynchuk. – “Serhiy Vlasenko quite successfully defends Tymoshenko. And all that talks about his possible substitution are nothing more than just idle gossips”.
“The motives of the government are rather clear – to show every inappropriate person his place, defined not by the applicable legislation but the Party of Regions. I am absolutely convinced that as soon as Vlasenko’s immunity is cancelled, he will be immediately arrested”- expressed his opinion Mykola Katerynchuk.
“I would like to emphasize and inform everyone who is happy about this: our team of lawyers and me personally are ready to provide all necessary legal assistance in this matter, as well as other members of the opposition. The resistance will be fierce. And if the government hopes to imprison all “inappropriate” people, it will not work”, – said the MP.
