“Not federalization but decentralization of local authorities is able to preserve the territorial integrity of Ukraine”, – says the head of the Odessa City Office of the European Party of Ukraine Ruslan Chernolutskiy, commenting on the situation on separatist sentiments and calls to hold local referendums.
“Only through the decentralization of local power we can resolve the issue of territorial integrity today. The current leadership must take a number of difficult policy decisions and amend the Constitution of Ukraine to delegate maximum power to regions. It is primarily concerns the issues of managerial and fiscal issues, the formation and content of the budget, providing the regions with an ability to distribute the budget, to build and implement infrastructure projects. Only in this way, with no propaganda, but through specific actions we might convince residents of southeast not to believe in all the calls for federalization”, – said Ruslan Chernolutskiy.
“As all those politicians, who today call for separatism, do not even realize the possible consequences that will influence legal, economic, financial and social issues, and will affect the lives of each of us”, – he added.
