The 8th of April, 2016 Kyiv
The European Party of Ukraine during the 11th Congress examined the issue of the European integration and visa-free regime between Ukraine and the EU, problems with implementing the European standards of democracy into the Ukrainian politics, personal vision of a new economic policy to rescue Ukraine, problems regarding the social welfare for Ukrainians, state security, citizens’ safety, and announced about the consolidation of liberal forces in Ukraine.
Congress participants also stated that Ukraine is facing the threat of disruption of the ratification process of the Association Agreement in the European Parliament, taking into account the preliminary results of the referendum in the Netherlands. According to the delegates’ opinion, the current government is obliged to conduct are obliged to hold an explanatory work with those who are undecided, so that the Association Agreement will become a reality.
The European Party of Ukraine considers the referendum as a mirror image of the current Ukrainian government’s negative results, which has appeared to be incapable to prove the European community that the intentions to become a member of the European Union are valid. The government openly squeezes the brakes not only the desire of the most Ukrainians to live in the European country but does not hide the fact of the unwillingness to implement the pro-European ideals of the Revolution Dignity in practice. The President, the Cabinet of Ministers, and the Parliament at the expense of lives of the Heavenly Hundred and heroes who are being killed in the east of the country, enrich themselves and steal the euro perspective from us.
Based on this, the delegates of the 11th Congress feel obliged, as the political force, which always stands on the principles of European democracy and social liberalism, to demand from the President, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to take the urgent measures to ensure the subsequent successful ratification of the Agreement Association with the EU Member States and the adoption of the relevant decision in the European Parliament. Otherwise, this government should resign along with the President and bear personal responsibility for failing to fulfill its functions according to the current legislation.
As a result, the 11th Congress has passed eight resolutions that will form the basis of a new program of the Party and decided to go into opposition to the current government.
