“Every year our party takes part in the celebration of Europe Day in Ukraine. This year we decided to organize a bike ride, which was joined by party members, the candidates for Kyiv City Council Deputies from the European Party of Ukraine. We want to show that they are willing to adopt the best practices of the democratic capitals of Europe, where cycling is a symbol of environmental safety and healthy lifestyle of their inhabitants”, – said the participant of the bike ride, the leader of the European Party of Ukraine and the candidate for mayor of Kyiv Mykola Katerynchuk.
“Studying the experience of managing the capitals of the Baltic countries, I was able to verify the usability and feasibility of infrastructure projects to promoting cycling. It is not only comfortable and convenient for residents and tourists, but also can bring significant dividends for the city budget: fee for municipal bicycles, city unloading from vehicles, reduce of cost for road surface repairs trough minimizing its usage, a significant improvement of the ecological situation in the city”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.
Also, the candidate for mayor of Kyiv believes that increasing of the number of cyclists in the city is a good way to raise its security level. “Increasing the number of cyclist indicates the level of security in the city. Now, unfortunately, we must observe that the number of cyclists on the roads of the capital significantly decreased. Therefore, one of my tasks, as the head of the capital, I see in creation safe living conditions in the city and all-round by promotion cycling”, – said the politician.
