The 190th Executive Committee of Liberal International was held in the capital of Lebanon, Beirut on 12-14 April 2013. The meeting was devoted to the topics of “liberalism” and “traditional values”: Defining a winning liberal agenda in today’s changed world.
“The meeting was opened by the LI President, the member of the European Parliament (ALDE group) Hans van Baalen. The event was also attended by a member of the European Parliament (ALDE group) Anemi Neits. The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Lebanon Michel Suleiman, who is the patron of the Executive Committee of Liberal International, and a member of the Parliament, the President of the Fund, Baha Hariri. In general, liberals and other representatives from nearly 50 countries took part in the events of the Executive Committee of Liberal International on the shores of the Eastern Mediterranean.
The resolution on Ukraine was adopted during the congress. The main issues of which were the case of Yulia Tymoshenko and the fight against corruption in Ukraine.
During the event, the International Secretary of the European Party of Ukraine Natalia Sevidova had talks with the General Secretary of the Liberal International Membership Robert Vintrachen, aimed to prepare the European Party of Ukraine to join the Liberal International. Within the framework of this visit Natalia Sevidova also had a conversation with the President of the International Federation of Liberal Youth Thomas Lacey on accession of the youth organization of the European Party of Ukraine to the Federation.
The congress was held in a positive and friendly atmosphere.
