On June 13, 2014 an extraordinary congress of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) was held in Brussels. On behalf of the European Party of Ukraine there were present its leader Mykola Katerynchuk and the international secretary Natalia Sevidova.
“The European Party of Ukraine is the only party in Ukraine that has a deep integration into European political institutions. This provides a number of unique features: a direct dialogue with the members of both the European Parliament and politicians from Alliance. Besides, ALDE membership gives us significant European political experience and information exchange opportunities, involvement in the political life of Europe, and so on”, – said the leader of the European party of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk.
“It is important to emphasize that the ALDE was the faction that initiated sanctions against Russia during the revolution and its leader Guy Verhofstadt on the day of the Heavenly Hundred tragedy immediately flew to Kyiv, spoke to Ukrainians at Maidan and promised to support us! And a half a year before the revolution in Ukraine the ALDE faction gave a dominant number of votes in the European Parliament during the voting on facilitation of visa regime for Ukraine!”- wrote the international secretary of the European Party of Ukraine Natalia Sevidova on her page on Facebook.
“Members of the ALDE discussed the results of the elections very tough, constructively and critically. With no fear of censure or repressions the ALDE members proposed reforms that would raise the effectiveness of Party structures. They also discussed the conduct of the election campaign and the motivation of voters, insisted on the introduction of innovative approaches that were tested by the ALDE members, elected to the European Parliament”, – wrote Natalia Sevidova.
According to the elections to the European Parliament, the ALDE managed to maintain the third place.
