“In the situation surrounding the People’s Deputies, the main issue is not about the parliamentary immunity, but those bills that will be considered by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine next week. The presentations by the Prosecutor General’s Office on the removal of parliamentary immunity and criminal proceedings against deputies are aimed solely to strengthen the influence on the People’s Deputies by the President and create a “manual” parliament”, – said the Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the European Party of Ukraine, the Deputy Chairman of the party, Valeriy Klochok.
“After all, Poroshenko by the hands of the Prosecutor General tries to pass through the parliament the decisions that he needs. What exactly will be on the agenda, we will see on Monday, but we must be prepared that there will be a number of scandalous bills. And in the face of the threat of removal of the parliamentary immunity, violation of a number of criminal cases, the President’s draft laws will be easily adopted by the parliament”, – said Valeriy Klochok.
“On the one hand, cases against deputies are aimed to strengthen the influence on the parliamentary corps, so that it is more controlled. The second objective reason is to support the Prosecutor General`s PR-action that had its successful completion in the form of a positive decision of the Regulatory Committee on Friday. I am convinced that not all deputies will lose the parliamentary immunity. This is an another game that the authorities are trying to give for a real fight against corruption”, – he added.
