On December 14, 2018, the Council of the European Party of Ukraine decided to hold a party congress in January 2019 and to recommend the congress to support A. Hrytsenko’s candidacy on the 2019 presidential election.

According to party leader Mykola Katerynchuk, supporting Anatolii Hrytsenko is a logical and pragmatic choice. He said this at a joint press conference “Elections 2019: unification as the only way for Ukraine”, which took place in Kyiv on December 17 with the participation of Anatolii Hrytsenko, Mykola Katerynchuk and Mykola Tomenko.

“At the Council of the European Party of Ukraine, we almost unanimously decided at the next congress to nominate and support Anatoly Hrytsenko as a candidate from the only democratic opposition. We believe that in the course of hostilities, the president should have military specialization and education, experience, an analytical vision of the situation, which will enable the state to perform the function of protecting citizens and ensuring peace in the future. In addition, Hrytsenko is the an honest, decent, professional person will lay the foundations for building a society where justice will not be an empty word”, – declared Mykola Katerynchuk. He also believes that while serving as Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Anatoly

Hrytsenko demonstrated “the highest qualities of decency, professionalism and intolerance to corruption”, and his priorities were to enhance Ukraine’s defense capability and to improve the provision of soldiers and officers.

Mykola Katerynchuk will oversee the legal direction of the presidential campaign, as he has extensive experience in protecting election results. Thus, in 2004, it was Mykola Katerynchuk who proved in the Supreme Court of Ukraine large-scale falsifications of the second round of the presidential election, after which the court ruled to re-vote the presidential election in Ukraine.

“Today’s unification is a strengthening of the team that will take place at all levels. This is not a union for the presidential election, it is a strategic union for such a time”, Anatoly Hrytsenko said.

Anatoly Hrytsenko, Mykola Tomenko and Mykola Katerynchuk called for the unity of other like-minded people. Among them, Sviatoslav Vakarchuk, Roman Bezsmertnyi and others.
