On the 10-11th of September, 2015 the conference “The future of liberalism policy in Ukraine” was held in Kyiv. It brought together the representatives of liberal movements throughout the Europe. The leader of the European Party of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk, the International Officer of the Party Natali Sevidova, the chairman of the Zakarpattya regional organization Inna Turyanytsya, and Ruslan Chornolutsky from Odesa regional organisation also attended the conference. Among the EU representatives of liberal forces the conference attended the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, the European Liberal Forum, the Swedish Centre Party, the Liberal Party of Sweden and the members of the European Parliament. The main topics were corruption, low quality of education, gender inequality and environmental problems.
During the speech, the leader of the European Party of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk noted: “It is an extremely difficult time for Ukraine now. Those, who received power at the expense of people`s lives during the Revolution of Honor, failed to meet people`s expectations. Hundreds of thousands people, who were dissatisfied with the Yanukovych politics, faced a dilemma: the new government turned out to be deceitful, corrupted and incapable of reform. Military aggression in the East of Ukraine continues. There is no alternative. Any criticism of government actions is considered as a betrayal”.
Mykola Katerynchuk believes that the increased number of voters who tend to vote for money is another serious problem. “Despite everything, people continue to sell their votes: for money, for packed lunches, and for empty promises. This is a very serious problem that needs an immediate solution”, – he said. – “This requires a systematic liberalism policy, which prevents the mentioned voter’s shortcomings during elections. That is the only way to make the electoral process open and conscious in the nearest future which is the main fact for the formation of European democracy in Ukraine”.
