“The EU should provide a visa-free regime for Ukraine at first and then decide on a mechanism of suspension”, – said the leader of the European Party of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk.

“The European Parliament today published information that decision on the suspension mechanism, which is a prerequisite for granting Ukraine a visa-free regime, will take place only on 18th January, 2017. The relevant regulation 2016/0142 (COD) the MPs are going to to consider at the January meeting, “- said the politician.

“So the European Union consciously delays the promised visa-free regime for Ukraine, imposing new conditions. In this situation, first of all, the position of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine should be tough, to be able to defend Ukrainian interests. Therefore, the Minister Pavlo Klimkin should finally begin to work and require the EU to provide Ukraine a visa-free regime without any any additional conditions “, – emphasized Mykola Katerynchuk.

“The European Party of Ukraine continues to stress that the European Parliament should immediately consider a visa-free for Ukraine at the next plenary week and provide visa liberalization without any suspension mechanisms”, – he added.
