Mykola Katerynchuk: FTA of CIS doesn`t protect Ukrainian producers

10/08/2012 16:31

“The signing by President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych of the Law “On Ratification of the Agreement on the Free Trade Area of CIS”, in fact, this agreement applies only to Russia and Belarus, is a step against the Ukrainian producer” – said People’s Deputy of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk.

“This agreement covers only 30% of trade turnover between our countries. Most goods, including oil, gas and petroleum products will be imposed duties and subjected to the restrictions”, – said Mykola Katerynchuk.

“The ratification of this agreement practically ended all talks about the possibility of creating a normal free trade area within the CIS without exceptions and limitations. Russia has made it clear for all its partners that it is not interested in free trade with its neighbors”, – said the MP.

Mykola Katerynchuk believes that the agreement has no practical sense for business. “This document is necessary only to technologists of the Party of Regions to show their voters another election promise performance. Instead, the European Union offered to sign a mutually beneficial agreement on FTA and our aim is not to miss this opportunity. The key task of the future parliament will be ratifying the Association Agreement with the EU”, – added Mykola Katerynchuk.
