The European Party of Ukraine Calls the Regional Councils Deputies to Support the Initiative of Ukraine’s EU Membership Application

The European Party of Ukraine counts on the Regional Councils Deputies to join the Euro Integration propaganda action thus convincing the President, the Prime-Minister and the Parliament of Ukraine in the EU Membership Application necessity. This statement was declared by the Leader of the Party, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk at the press-conference in the Ligabusinessinform Information Agency Press-Center. Due to his words, “By now the powers support the Europe course only in words”.

Mykola Katerynchuk reminded that “the unprecedented event towards Ukraine took place” in the European Parliament in February of the current year – the Resolution with the item about the possibility for Kyiv to pass Ukraine into the EU Membership Application. “As an answer to this the European Party of Ukraine registered Draft Resolutions # 6119 about the EU Membership Application. And on April, 2nd the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine could not even take into consideration this decision, not speaking about bringing it into the agenda. Though the Committee on the European integration had unanimously supported this decision… For today we do not find mutual understanding within the precincts of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine concerning this Resolution “, – he noted. – “In this regard the European Party of Ukraine will apply to deputies of all levels on May, 22nd with the offer to prepare the reference to the President, the Prime Minister, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada with the request to consider and support the resolution about membership in the EU”.

Answering the question of the Ligabusinessinform correspondent whether “instructive work” is conducted among the People’s Deputies who finally should consider this Draft Resolution, Mykola Katerynchuk underlined: “the Verkhovna Rada has been structured politically in such a way that actually there is no necessity to convince each deputy, but it is necessary to convince the leaders of the political parties. Our action aims at applying to the President, the Prime Minister, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine through Regional Councils decisions to which, I think, one thousand signatures more will be enclosed. And thus, through the society position, we will try to press on the power that this resolution (about application for membership in the EU, – ed.) becomes a subject for consideration in the Verkhovna Rada. And even if there is an answer “no “, it is the answer too. But the society should be acknowledged about it “.

Let’s remind, on February, 25th the European Parliament accepted the resolution which allows Kyiv to apply for membership in the EU. “The Parliament recognizes the European aspirations of Ukraine. Ukraine has a possibility to request membership in the European Union as well as all European countries which adhere to principles of freedom, democracies, respect of human rights and bases of freedom, and also leadership of the law”, – it is told in the resolution.

And already on March, 1st the People’s Deputy, the leader of the European Party of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk submitted for the Parliament’s consideration the Draft Resolution about application for membership in the European Union. “To take the advantage of this chance, system work and the coordinated interaction of all state bodies, first of all – the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine” is necessary, – is told in the explanatory note to the Draft Resolution. This document is not considered till now within the precincts of the Verkhovna Rada.
