The leader of the European Party of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk sent a letter to the Chairman of the parliamentary committee on Legal Policy and Justice Ruslan Knyazevich with an appeal to conduct a roundtable to discuss cases of unjustified fines for political parties, established on the results of verification of their reports by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention.
After the roundtable participants will initiate amendments to the current legislation in order to “reduce the pressure on the political parties to ensure their impartial political activity as a determinant of building a democratic society”.
As noted in the letter, the conclusions of the roundtable will be the basis in preparing a draft resolution at the next congress of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) in spring this year, which will host the delegation of the European Party of Ukraine as a full member of this political force. A subsequent settlement of this issue is planned in the European Council.
